This Wednesday the church remembers Willibrord, Archbishop of Utrecht, Missionary to Frisia (739)

 

O Lord our God, who call whom you will and send them where you choose: We thank you for sending your servant Willibrord to be an apostle to the Low Countries, to turn them from the worship of idols to serve you, the living God; and we entreat you to preserve us from the temptation to exchange the perfect freedom of your service for servitude to false gods and to idols of our own devising; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

THIS WEEK AT INCARNATION

 

Monday, November 5              7:00 pm.  The Men’s Group meets to discuss "Serving a Commander-in-Chief."  Mark Lulka, colonel in the Air Force reserve, will speak.  Refreshments served.

 

Wednesday, November 7         12:15 pm. Holy Eucharist

Friday, November 9                12:15 pm. Holy Eucharist with Prayers for Healing.

 

Friday, November 9-               Save the date: Parish Retreat at Incarnation Center,

Sunday, November 11             Ivoryton, CT.  Join us for what promises to be a relaxing retreat weekend with fellow parishioners.  The Center has comfortable accommodations, restaurant-quality meals, miles of hiking trails, a farm, and a Sugar Shack (where maple syrup is made).  There will be a Compline service, one or more spiritual meditations, and a Eucharist service on Sunday.  It is not too late to sign up; call the church office, 212-689-6350!

 

Stewardship Update: As of November 1, we have received 52 commitments and a total of $110,101 in pledges.  Thank you for your generosity.

COMING UP AT INCARNATION

 

Tuesday, November 13           7:00 pm. Women's Group meets.  Topic, "Balancing Self-Care with Care-giving."  There will be beverages and substantial hors d'oeuvres.

 

Sunday, November 18             12:30 pm. "Welcoming Workshop," with presentations by the Membership Committee. Come learn how we can all be involved in the ministry of hospitality, as we welcome visitors and guests to Incarnation.

 

Tuesday, November 20           7:00 pm. Twenties and Thirties' Drinks and Discussion.  Meet at the Parish House and walk to a local bar to discuss Christian responses to talk of global warming and debate religious responsibility for the environment.  First drink — be it a Coke or a beer — is on the church.

 

Wednesday, November 21      11:00 am – 3 pm.  Preparation and delivery of Thanksgiving meals to housebound seniors in Murray Hill.  A H.O.N.E.Y. (Helping our Neighbors Eat Year-round) event.

 

Friday, November 30              11:00 am -6:00 pm.  Christmas Fair.

 

Saturday, December 1             11:00 am-4:00 pm.  Christmas Fair.
