E-MINDER: the Church of the Incarnation

THE WEEK OF JANUARY 27 –

FEBRUARY 3, 2008

This Friday, the church remembers Brigid of Kildare.  Brigid established a monastery in Kildare, Ireland, on the site of a pagan shrine.  The Druids had kept a fire burning continuously at the shrine; Brigid kept the fire alight but assigned it Christian meaning.  Brigid was known for her generous charity and holiness; she participated in the councils of the church and some believe she was a bishop.

Everliving God, we rejoice today in the fellowship of your blessed servant Brigid, and give you thanks for her life of devoted service. Inspire us with life and light, and give us perseverance to serve you all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Feb 12th: The Liberal Vision, Professor Garry Dorrien (Ph.D. Union Theological Seminary)

Feb 19: Authority in Anglican Ethics, The Rev. Dr. Victor Austin (Ph.D. Fordham University)
