THE WEEK OF JUNE 1-JUNE 8, 2008

The Gospel this Sunday, Matthew 9:9-13, tells the story of Jesus calling the Apostle Matthew.  The story is stunning in its brevity:  Jesus said, "Follow me," and Matthew got up and followed him.

 

We thank you, heavenly Father, for the witness of your apostle and evangelist  Matthew to the Gospel of your Son our Savior; and we pray that, after his example, we may with ready wills and hearts obey the calling of our Lord to follow him; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

12:00 noon: A short service of Holy Eucharist follows Morning Prayer.

 

5:00 pm: Contemplative Candlelight

Meditation: the Assistant Minister

Final evening service of the season; it will resume in September.

 

COMING UP AT INCARNATION

 

Tuesday, June 10                     7:00 pm.  Twenties & Thirties meets at the Parish House.  We will walk to a local establishment for Drinks and Discussion.  Topic: "Plastic Surgery and Marks of Beauty."  RSVP: amanda@churchoftheincarnation.org

 

Wednesday, July 23                 7:00 pm.  "Christmas in July" crafts night.

 

Monday, August 11-                9:15 am until 12:15 pm. Vacation Bible School,

Friday, August 15                    "Rainforest Adventure," for children ages 3 to 10.  Adult and/or teenage volunteers are       needed to assist with this program.  Can you help set-up, or spend one day leading crafts, games, etc.?  Contact Amanda, the Assistant Minister, amanda@churchoftheincarnation.org,

INCARNATION CAMP at Incarnation Center, Ivoryton, CT, holds summer programs for children ages 7 to 16.  Materials on the camp are available at the entrance of the church.  Visit their website, www.incarnationcamp.org, and/or contact the Rector or the Assistant Minister for more information.
