E-MINDER: the Church of the Incarnation

THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 16-23, 2008

This Wednesday, November 19, the church remembers Elizabeth of Hungary, Princess and Philanthropist (1207-1231).  In her twenty-four years of life, Elizabeth was devoted to charitable works and caring for the poor and the sick.  She used her wedding dowry for relief efforts and sold her jewels to open a hospital.  Hospitals throughout the world now bear her name.

Almighty God, by your grace your servant Elizabeth of Hungary recognized and honored Jesus in the poor of this world: Grant that we, following her example, may with love and gladness serve those in any need or trouble, in the name and for the sake of Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen
