On December 4, the church remembers John of Damascus, Priest, Hymn-Writer, and Defender of Icons (c. 760):

Confirm our minds, O Lord, in the mysteries of the true faith, set forth with power by your servant John of Damascus; that we, with him, confessing Jesus to be true God and true Man, and singing the praises of the risen Lord, may, by the power of the resurrection, attain to eternal joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Monday, December 1              6:30-9:00 pm. Basket Night for the Christmas Fair.  Come to the Parish House to assemble gift baskets to be sold at the fair.

 

Tuesday, December 2              6:30-9:00 pm.  Christmas Fair set-up in the Parish House.

 

Wednesday, December 3         12:15 pm. Holy Eucharist

 

                                                5:00 pm. Rehearsal for children's Christmas musical

 

                                                6:30 pm. Holy Eucharist with homily

5:00 pm:  Contemplative Candlelight Communion

Meditation: the Assistant Minister

 

 

The lessons for this Sunday are: Isaiah 40:1-11; Psalm 85; 2 Peter 3:8-15a,18; Mark 1:1-8

COMING UP AT INCARNATION

 

Friday. December 12               5:00 pm onward.  “Greening of the Church” by the Women's, Men's and Twenties & Thirties groups.  A reception in the Rector's apartment will follow the decorating. 

 

Sunday, December 14             5:00 pm. Lessons and Carols service followed by the Parish Christmas Party.

 

Tuesday, December 16            7:00 pm.  Twenties and Thirties' Drinks and Discussion.

 

Wednesday, December 17       6:30 pm.  Performance of The Christmas Story through the Eyes of the Friendly Beasts.  All are welcome to attend the children's musical.

 

Wednesday, December 24       Christmas Eve

 

                                                10:30 pm. Service of preparatory music, with soloists from choir

 

                                                11:00 pm.  Festival Eucharist

 

Thursday, December 25          Christmas Day

 

                                                11:00 am. Holy Eucharist with visit to the crèche for children.
