THE WEEK OF JANUARY 25-FEBRUARY 1, 2009

 

 

Incarnation's Organist and Director of Music, Dr. Matthew Lewis, is on tour–teaching and giving recitals — for the next three weeks.   He has already held a recital, as well as a masterclass, at William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.  Dr. Lewis will also perform at Christ Church Cathedral, New Orleans, Louisiana; First Presbyterian Church, Kilgore, Texas; and will conduct a choral concert at First Trinity Presbyterian Church, Laurel, Mississippi.  While we look forward to his return on February 15, we wish Dr. Lewis Godspeed as he shares his gifts, which we regularly get the chance to enjoy, with others. 

 

O God, whom saints and angels delight to worship in
heaven: Be ever present with your servants who seek through
art and music to perfect the praises offered by your people on
earth; and grant to them even now glimpses of your beauty,
and make them worthy at length to behold it unveiled for
evermore; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

            5:30 pm. Holy Eucharist with homily; please note the new time.

                                                7:00 pm.  Twenties and Thirties' Drinks and Discussion. We will meet at the Parish House and walk to a local bar for a conversation about new beginnings — the new year, the new president, new ideas for 20s/30s at Incarnation, etc.  RSVP: amanda@churchoftheincarnation.org

*The lessons for this Sunday are Malachi 3:1-4; Hebrews 2:14-18; Luke 2:22-40.

COMING UP AT INCARNATION

 

Monday, February 2                7:00 pm.  Men's Group meets in the Parish House.  The discussion topic will be "The Institution of Marriage," introduced by Deacon Zito.  Refreshments will be served.

                                               

Tuesday, February 3                7:00 pm.  Women's Group meets in the Parish House to discuss "Christian Hope."  All women are welcome to attend.

 

Sunday, February 8                  12:30 pm. Acolyte training and pizza lunch.

 

Tuesday, February 10              7:00 pm. -8:00pm.  Career Support Group meets in the Parish House. The group is intended for those seeking jobs or planning a career change; speak to the clergy for further details.

 

Wednesday, February 11        7:00 pm.  Confirmation/Inquirer's Class begins.  See the Rector for further information.
