What’s happening at Incarnation

Join our email list to receive weekly updates, spiritual reflections, and access information for offerings held via Zoom. Here are a few highlights!

Ecclesia Ministries

Every third Sunday of the month, parishioners are invited to the Parish Dining Room at 12:30 pm to help make sandwiches and pack lunches for Ecclesia Ministries of New York, which serves those who are food and housing insecure.

The Rev. Deacon Denise LaVetty serves an Ecclesia congregation that currently worships in the courtyard of Church of the Transfiguration (29th Street, between 5th and Madison) every Sunday from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. Parishioners are also invited to attend this 2:00 pm service of Holy Eucharist and then distribute the lunches.

March "Third Thursday"

Join us in the Assembly Hall on Thursday, March 21, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm for a special Third Thursday presentation. At each celebration of the Eucharist, we pray these words: “And here we offer and present unto thee, O Lord, ourselves, our souls and bodies to be a reasonable holy and living sacrifice unto thee.” As we move through Lent and approach Holy Week, we will explore together what these words mean–how we can worship with both “soul and body”–through some creative and contemplative exercises. Light refreshments will be provided.

20s/30s Group Holy Saturday Gathering

Holy Saturday, March 30, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. 20s/30s are invited to a special gathering on Holy Saturday, which commemorates the day when the body of Jesus lay in the tomb. We’ll begin with a mediation in the Chapel of the Nativity. Then we’ll spend some time hiding Easter Eggs in the Parish House for the hunt on Easter Sunday. Afterwards, we’ll have coffee and a light brunch for those who can stick around for some fellowship, wrapping things up by noon. Email the Rev. Dr. Nate Lee if you can make it. Hope to see you then!

Eastertide Book Groups

G.K. Chesterton was one of the most famous and well-regarded authors in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, having achieved renown as a playwright, novelist, poet, essayist, and editor (among other things). His 1908 Orthodoxy is the best known of his many great books, and the most thoroughgoing explication of this thought – considered by many to be a “modern masterpiece.”

Written as an “intellectual and spiritual autobiography” of his conversion to Christianity, Orthodoxy offers a simple yet subtle defense of the timeless truths of Christianity. Chesterton guides the reader through his own path of discovery, leading to the earth-shattering realization that “orthodoxy” is the only satisfactory answer to the riddles at the heart of our universe.

The book groups will meet for five weeks, and there will be two meeting times for groups you can join:
  • Mondays, 7:00-8:00 pm on ZOOM (begins April 8)
  • Tuesdays, 7:00-8:00 pm on ZOOM (begins April 9)
To sign up for one of these groups, contact the Rev. Dr. Nate Lee. Please also feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Mothers of Bedford

Our parish supports the collaboration between Incarnation Camp and our partner in mission, Hour Children. Over the past few years, Incarnation Camp has enabled kids from Hour Children to attend camp free of charge, and parishioners have generously contributed toward the cost of tuition.

Join us on Wednesday, May 1 at 6:30 pm for an exclusive evening of cinema and discussion with the screening of the powerful documentary, Mothers of Bedford, followed by a Q&A session with the director, Jenifer McShane, an Incarnation Camp alumna. This event not only showcases an important social issue—motherhood in prison—but also supports a meaningful cause. All proceeds will support Incarnation Camp scholarships, including for children of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women through Hour Children. Cost is $50 per person, and you can register here.
